A victim held an attempted robbery suspect at gunpoint this past Thursday night after the suspect went back into the home and demanded the victim’s car keys. KOAA NBC Channel 5 News published a story about the incident on their website.
The incident happened at a residence located in Pueblo, Colorado. The residence is located in the 800 block of W. 14th. Per Pueblo Police, the homeowner, Alex Clarke, woke to a noise.
The attempted robbery suspect, Randy Mata, had tried to escape the residence in the victim’s car. Mata grabbed the wrong keys. He had returned to the home for the correct set of keys. Unable to find the keys, Mata then entered the victim’s bedroom and demanded that the victim hand over his car keys.
Clarke rose from his bed. Instead of grabbing his car keys, he grabbed his firearm. He marched Mata to the backyard where he held the suspect at gunpoint until police could arrive. Clarke, who was nude at the time, said, “I don’t know if he was more afraid of the gun or the 400-pound naked guy pointing it at him.”
Pueblo Police took Mata into custody. He faces multiple charges including one for fist-degree burglary.
