A homeowner witnessing a vehicle break-in suspect shot the attempted burglar this past Thursday on Sep. 20. WNCT CBS Channel 9 published a story about the attempted car burglary on their site.
The incident happened at 3256 Bailey Rd. in Williamston, North Carolina. Deputies from the Martin’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a shooting that had taken place at the home.
Upon arriving, deputies discovered the homeowner had witnessed the suspected car burglar breaking into his vehicles. The homeowner then grabbed his firearm and approached the suspect. A confrontation ensued, which led to the owner shooting the suspect.
The Williamston Fire and Rescue Department transported the shot suspect to Martin General Hospital. Once doctors stabilized the suspect, a helicopter airlifted him to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for further treatment.
North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has aided local authorities. The investigation remains open.
