An attempted carjacker was shot and killed in Chillum, Maryland, this past Tuesday on Dec. 26. ABC 7 posted a story about the incident on their site.
The attempted carjacking occurred at around 2:15 a.m. at a residence located on Sligo Parkway. The suspect attempted to steal the homeowner’s vehicle. The homeowner’s vehicle was parked in his driveway.
During a 911 call, the dispatcher said, “Caller thinks that there’s more than one suspect. Advised that they were trying to steal her dad’s truck and then shots went off. He’s shot in the head.”
The shot carjacker, identified as 32-year-old Deontae Parker, died at the scene. Per neighbors, small children were in the house at the time of the incident.
ABC 7’s Anna-Lysa Gayle asked neighbor Ericca Caballero if homeowners should be charged after incidents like this one. “I really want to know more about what happened, because, if he was defending his family, no not all,” Caballero responded.
Investigators are currently determining if the attempted robbery victim should be charged for shooting and killing Parker. Police said that they believe Parker had an accomplice.
