A bystander fired his weapon after a shooter opened fire on a group of people at a park in Titusville, Florida. The incident occurred during a Peace in the City gathering. WFTV published a story about the incident on their site.
The shooting occurred at Isaac Campbell Park. Isaac Campbell Park is located on South Street in Titusville, Florida. The shooter had been at the park. After getting into a fist fight with other attendants, the shooter left.
He returned at around 5:20 pm and began firing into the crowd. Upon noticing the shooter firing, a bystander, who had a concealed carry license for his weapon, shot the assailant. The suspect was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Peace in the City organizer Dwight Harvey said that he and his family organized the event after Tony Butler, a cousin, was found dead in a burning car in Mims in July. “We were just trying to do something positive for the community,” Harvey said.
Titusville Police stated that they don’t believe any charges against the Good Samaritan are pending. Deputy Chief Todd Hutchison said, “We are extremely grateful that nobody else was injured in this incident. This suspect opened fire at a crowded public park, this could have been so much worse.”
As a Brit living and working in the USA, her views on gun ownership and the second amendment have evolved over the years, allowing her to fully understand both sides of the gun control debate and she regularly speaks on the matter to help others understand why she feels the second amendment must be protected and why she chooses to be an advocate for the shooting sports.
