A robbery suspect was shot in the early hour mornings this past Monday at a home in Lake Highlands, Texas. FOX 4 News published a story about the incident on their site.
The incident occurred at around 5:00 am this past Monday on Oct. 27. Lake Highlands is a suburb near Dallas-Ft. Worth. Per the Lake Highlands Police Department, a suspect first rang the doorbell to the residence at around 5:00 am. The suspect apologized to the resident that answered the door for being at the wrong house.
The suspect left. But, the suspect returned at which point, he kicked in the front door, and forced his way inside the home. The resident had already armed himself. The victim opened fire once the suspect forcibly entered the home.
Neighbor Savanah Askin’s bedroom window is close to the residence. She heard the entire incident as it unfolded. “I hear someone screaming and then I hear 5 or 6 gunshots so I freaked out. I ran to my bathroom, locked myself in there because I didn’t know where the gunshots were coming from. I didn’t know if he had seen me turn my light on and was like saying something to me. I had no idea what was going on,” Ms. Askin said.
Ms. Askin also claims that she heard loud music right before hearing the gunshots. She believes the loud music came from the suspect’s car. Ms. Askin questioned why the suspect would blare loud music right before breaking down the front door to a home.
Per police, the suspected robber arrived in a Dodge Charger. Police said they’ll search the Dodge Charger. A bag left on the porch that supposedly came from the suspect has also been entered into evidence.
Emergency services transported the shot suspect to a local hospital. He is listed in critical condition. Lake Highlands Police said that they expect the robbery suspect to survive.
Neither one of the homeowners, a husband and wife, were harmed during the incident.
